Building Permits
A building permit is a necessary requirement for any construction project that takes place within the Fort Benton city limits. This applies to a variety of projects, including but not limited to building additions, concrete slabs, decks, fences, storage sheds, and garages. This requirement is in place to ensure that all developments comply with local zoning laws, building codes, and safety regulations. By obtaining a permit, property owners contribute to maintaining community standards and promoting orderly growth, while also safeguarding property values and the overall well-being of residents. It is advisable for property owners to consult with the city planning department to obtain the necessary permits prior to commencing any construction activities, ensuring a smooth and compliant process. These can be obtained at Fort Benton City Hall and must be approved by the building official before construction can begin.
Dog Licenses
The City of Fort Benton requires all dog owners to obtain a dog license as a part of responsible pet ownership. This licensing process helps ensure that pets are vaccinated and contributes to the overall safety and health of the community. Licenses are issued annually, due every year on January 1st and can be obtained through the city office or designated locations. The cost of one license is $10 and per Fort Benton city ordinance, only 2 dogs are allowed to be registered per household. It is important for dog owners to keep their license current to avoid potential fines and to enhance the chances of reuniting lost pets with their owners.
